Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Esports Mediterranean Games in Libya

From August 6 to 10, the first Esport Mediterranean Games were held in the city of Benghazi, Libya. 14 national teams from the Mediterranean region participated in this competition, including the team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the total prize fund was 16,000 US dollars.

The competition took place in four categories: two male and two female, in the video games eFootball and Tekken 8. The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina had competitors only in the male categories, and we hope that next year we will have representatives in the female categories as well.

As for the men's categories, in the video game eFootball, our national team member Bakir Bakalović finished fourth in his group and qualified for the finals of the tournament. Unfortunately, in the quarterfinals, he was defeated by the representatives of Portugal with a score of 2:1. The winner of the eFootball men's category was the Moroccan national team, while the Portuguese took second place, and the Serbs took third place.

In the men's Tekken 8 category, our national team member Igor Koler finished in fourth place with two wins and three losses and did not make it past the group stage. First place in the Tekken 8 category was won by the Lebanese national team, who defeated hosts Libya in the final, while third place went to Algeria, who defeated Croatia.

In the women's categories, there were only three contestants each. In the eFootball category, the first place was won by the national team of Morocco, second place went to Libya, and third place to Montenegro. In the Tekken 8 category, the first place was won by Serbia, the second place by Libya, while the third place went to Montenegro.

We hope that at the next Mediterranean Games there will be a much greater turnout in the women's categories and that other Mediterranean countries will join us.
